Meetings online have numerous advantages especially in the increasingly online world. Meetings that are online save time for everyone involved. Instead of having to take their bags off and leave their desks, eat food or print out documents, and then connect to an audiovisual system, attendees can simply join the meeting wherever they are at the moment. They also have the option to silence themselves during the meeting in case they want to take a moment or check their email.

Meetings online are also more reliable. It could be because participants don’t need to rush to the bathroom prior making their call or worry about being dressed nicely. Maybe it’s because they can choose from a range of places that can accommodate their convenience whether from their home and cafes to the beach.

Online meetings can also save a business money. When a company holds an event in person it is required to pay for the space and refreshments. This is not the case with online meetings.

However, there are certain disadvantages of online meetings that must not be ignored. It is difficult to keep the attention of attendees in a gathering if they cannot see each others’ faces. This could result in people checking their emails or social media during meetings and is not conducive to a productive meeting. Meetings online do not offer the same level of communication due to the fact that people can’t discern non-verbal body language cues.
